Susanne Kaufmann Moisturizing Mask [Complete Review]

suzanne kaufmann moisturizing mask review

As someone who is always on the hunt for the perfect skincare product, I get cautiously excited when coming across a brand I’ve never heard of. A while back, in a Naturisimo discovery box, there was a jar of the Susanne Kaufmann Moisturizing Mask.

Never heard of the brand.

What was in the jar looked only moderately appealing, to be honest. Between the airy texture, looking rather greasy, and the bland scent, I wasn’t sure what to think. It seemed gentle enough and natural, though not really on a level to write home about.

Because there were other, more riveting, finds in the box, it took me a while to even give this mask a first try.

Boy, was I wrong! It’s basically the one thing that made the entire discovery box worth your while. First impressions are important but not always accurate. But we already knew that, right?

Let’s take a closer look at the brand Suzanne Kaufmann, and the this moisturizing mask has on the skin.

Suzanne Kaufmann: the Brand

A quick search revealed that Suzanne Kaufmann is a holistic natural skincare brand from Austria. Their slogan is: “Proven holistic skincare powered by natural actives, responsibly sourced and produced in the Alpine regions of Austria & Switzerland.” Oh, and they even have a Spa!

You can find more background information on their official About page. However, if you’re going to purchase as a US-based shopper, it’s probably good to check the best prices for Suzanne Kaufmann on Amazon.

Moisturizing Mask Try-Out

My first impression is covered in the intro, so you already know it wasn’t exactly love at first sight.

When I finally did dig in, here’s how it went.

First off, while this is a mask, I’m currently in a phase of life where I do not have time for masks. Sure, it could technically happen instead of sleep, but I prefer sleep. And one could argue that sleep is perhaps even more beneficial for the skin than any mask. 😉

So, for lack of me-time, I put a thin layer on before bed and didn’t wash it off.

The next morning, I woke up with plump, happy, hydrated, nourished skin. Amazing.

Later, when reading up on the actual directions for use online, it appeared that using a thin payer as an overnight mask is actually one of the intended ways to use this mask!

Well, right on, then. 😉

The added benefit is, of course, that the little jar goes a long way when you don’t slather it on. I’ve always been partial to slathering on a thick layer of a beauty product is most of it ends up in the sink anyways. With anything other than cheap Kaolin clay, that seems such a waste.

Using this moistuzing mask as a thick night cream is what I did for a while and that worked really well.

Directions for Use

As for the official directions of use, here are the two options:

  • On clean skin, apply a thick layer and leave it on for 15 minutes. Remove with a warm, damp cloth. Do this once or twice a week.
  • Alternatively, the mask can also be used as a deeply hydrating overnight treatment. Apply the mask after cleansing, using the same amount as you would a day cream. Allow the mask to absorb a little before going to bed.

Ingredients & Effects

If you’d like to check out the full ingredients of Suzanne Kaufmann’s Moisturizing Mask, they’re all listed over here. The list includes explanations of what exactly each substances does.

On the official website, you’ll also notice a few different goals the brand has listed: to firm, hydrate, increase radiance, and rejuvenate. I was very impressed with the results and this mask easily checks all of those boxes.

Here are some of the things I noticed after using this product:

  • Plumpness: Waking up after a good night’s sleep with a thin layer of the mask on, my skin felt noticeably plumper. There clearly is something about the deep hydration it provides, which helps to fill out fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Complexion: My complexion looks more radiant and vibrant after using this mask.
  • Moisturizing: One of the main benefits of this mask is its moisturizing properties. On that front, it really delivers. My skin feels deeply hydrated and nourished after using it. For a lasting effect, you may need to use the mask every so often, but even as a one-off, it’s a nice outcome!
  • Signs of aging: In the battle against signs of aging, the combination of the mask’s plumping, hydrating, and other botanical ingredients, this mask is a real winner. I feel like it does help to smooth out fine lines and make my skin look more youthful overall.

Overall, I definitely recommend the Susanne Kaufmann Moisturizing Mask to anyone looking for a deeply hydrating and nourishing skincare product. It’s a bit pricey, but worth it for the results it delivers.

Conclusion

Suzanne Kaufmann’s Moisturizing Mask might be the natural skincare addition you never knew you needed.

It does contain some ingredients that don’t sound natural, however, these come with an explanation of what they are, what they do for the skin, and why they are included in the mask.

Even if it doesn’t smell as magical as certain other lines (everything by Annmarie Skin Care, or the Antipodes Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream) it has been doing amazing things for my skin.
