Weleda Wild Rose Body Lotion Review

Effective Safe Natural Acne Treatment

Weleda Wild Rose body lotion is part of an etire line of organic skin care products scented with rose essential oil. I’ve also written a review for the Wild Rose body oil. Depending of which one you read first, the other review may sounds a bit repetitive, because I just really love Weleda products and their Wild Rose items are part of my favorite organic body care.

Packaging

The packaging has gone through a redesign, which definitely looks more modern. I’ve used the smaller tubes (just happened to get a few of those, and they go a long way).

Weleda is very active in the research of more sustainble, eco-friendly packaging and minimizing waste. A pdf sheet with information about what and how Weleda has been doing with the packaging of their products can be found here.

Texture

The Wild Rose body lotion has a certain fluidity, which makes it spread out very good and because of that it’s also rather economical in use. I love how it nourishes the skin without leaving a greasy residue or making the skin sticky. It absorbs quickly. This natural body lotion is a very nice pick-me-up for moderately dry to very dry skin. And even if you don’t have dry skin, I can imagine you’d want to use it, just for its delicious scent. I know I do. 🙂

Scent

Well, if you’re familiar with any of the other rose-products by Weleda, this one’s fragrance should not be much of a surprise. I’d describe it as a very natural rose odor – the only fragrance used in the lotion comes from natural essential oils and this scent has very little to do with the crass, synthetic rose odor given to many regular skin care products. I.m.o. it is absolutely delicious and smells very much like the real thing, like a real rose!

Ingredients

Ingredients, INCI: Water (Aqua), Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Alcohol, Glycerin, Rosa Moschata Seed Oil, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Fragrance (Parfum)*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Distillate, Rosa Damascena Extract, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan), Xanthan Gum, Limonene*, Linalool*, Citronellol*, Geraniol*, Citral*, Farnesol*.

*from natural essential oils.

Weleda’s Wild Rose body lotion does contain natural alcohol. My skin doesn’t seem to have any issues with that, but if you’re looking for an organic body lotion without alcohol, this one could be worth checking out. (It doesn’t smell like roses though, more vanilla-ish, rather sweet and powdery.)

What I like about the Weleda Wild Rose Body Lotion

  • The delicious Weleda signature natural rose scent.
  • Light and quickly absorbed.
  • Leaves skin moisturized and soft.
  • Weleda’s overall approach as a company when it comes to organic skin care, sustainability and respect for the natural world.

What I like less about Weleda Wild Rose Body Lotion

I don’t mind organic, plant derived alcohol in my skin care, even though some experts have labeled alcohol as a less desirable ingredient. There are enough other ridiculous ingredients in regular skin care products, natural alcohol just doesn’t seem like the biggest of threats. Testing out a new product on a patch of skin is always a good idea, because an allergy to any kind of substance is possible – synthetic or natural.

Bottom Line of the Weleda Wild Rose Body Lotion Review

Most (*) of Weleda’s Wild Rose skin care products are in my list of favorite organic skin care, and the Wild Rose body lotion is no exception. Another beautifully scented body lotion, light but nourishing enough. Very pleasant to use on large area’s and a little goes a long way. Very reasonably priced, too.

* Most, not all – the Wild Rose face care products gave me a rash a very long time ago, and I’ve never tried them again. No clue how or why, but I’d love to figure that out one day.

Pricetag: approx. US $ 16.50 on Weleda’s official website. On Amazon there are usually some lower priced ones, as you can check right here.
